Meet Brandi
I am running to be a 4th District State Representative because I have called Spokane Valley home for the last 30 years and have watched how the West side of the state has impacted our once vibrant thriving community. The West side's policies aren't a one size fits all, and they don't fit our community's needs and vision. Eastern Washington is special, and we want to keep it that way.
I have spent the last 6 years as an elected official on the Spokane Valley City Council where I was able to help advocate for our community while maintaining our conservative values and interests. It is while I was on city council that we were able forgo the allotted 1% property tax increase allowed by Washington state for the 18th year in a row, get creative and find ways to fund major infrastructure and road projects without having to raise taxes. I also helped establish collaborative relationships between agencies and municipalities that lead to many successful outcomes including funding to help improve the Avista Stadium, acquiring Flora property that will now be a Regional Cross Country course, help create a tourism promotion area for Spokane Valley, and complete many transportation projects that deliver imperative safety measures as well as account for our growing traffic increases.
During my tenure on Spokane Valley City Council, we made yearly trips to both Olympia and Washington DC to fight for our community and meet with not just our local district representatives but also with legislators across the state and outside of our district to make progress on our legislative agenda. Even before my election to city council, I was testifying in legislature to lessen the burden of taxes on our citizens and advocate for our public safety. In last year's session, I worked alongside Representative Suzanne Schmidt and Representative Marcus Riccelli to try and pass a bi-partisan bill that would help deter violence committed against Sports Officials, Teachers, and Coaches and we were able to receive a 97-0 vote in the house of representatives. It was one of many trips that I've made to Olympia where I used my many years of experience and relationships to work with numerous representatives outside of my district and party. I strongly believe that you have to be creative and work alongside others who may not share your political beliefs to find common ground. We have had representatives in the past who have taken good votes but if you aren't able to work with others and bring others alongside you, then your votes aren't worth anything at all. It's strictly symbolic and too many bad policies have come out of Olympia that are severely impacting our community and we need someone willing to work with others to get the job done.
In order to succeed, you need a representative who not only has first-hand experience in Olympia, but who also knows the district and it's needs. I have over 20 years of experience in numerous volunteer capacities, organizations, and community efforts in the 4th district and can hit the ground running if elected. It was important to me during my elected tenure that I answered every email and educated myself on all the issues both inside and outside of my district. I have the best opportunity to represent our community and fight for our needs and interests.
I would be absolutely honored for your support and your vote. This community means everything to me, and my experience and proven leadership give me the advantage to best represent you over in Olympia. My husband and I own businesses and a home together in this district and understand the importance of opportunity and hard work. I pledge to take that grit and determination to Olympia and make you proud of our community and its efforts.
Together, we can continue to be successful and build upon the American Dream.
